PADI includes Advanced Computer Simulator with Open Water Diver Course

PADI collaborates with DiveNav to provide simulator for model-specific dive computers to student divers.

TUSTIN, CA – October 31, 2013 – The PADI organization and DiveNav have entered into an agreement to include access to DiveNav‘s advanced computer simulators for PADI Open Water Diver students learning with the computer option. Limited distribution of this new feature will be available as early as December 2013.

This agreement enables a student diver who enrolls in a select PADI Open Water Diver course with computer option the ability to obtain free access to DiveNav‘s divePAL Advanced and Nitrox dive computer simulators, as well as to one model-specific recreational computer simulator of the student’s choice. Additionally, the student diver will receive substantial savings on select online classes for model-specific dive computers offered via DiveNav‘s online service DiveComputerTraining.com.

“PADI is excited about the partnership with DiveNav and this new benefit for PADI Members”, says Bob Coleman, PADI Americas Vice-President of Sales and the Retailer and Resort Association. “With this agreement, PADI and DiveNav are taking dive computer education to the next level by giving open water student divers the opportunity to learn how to use their model-specific dive computers long before entering the water.

DiveNav’s divePAL is a multiplatform application that allows divers to plan, log and analyze their dives. The intuitive graphical interface makes it easy for a diver to input a dive profile, analyze it, and view the trends and relationships between depth, time, nitrogen loading and tank pressure. The generic and model specific computer simulators enhance the learning experience for student divers and help student’s familiarize themselves with different brands. DiveNav‘s implementation of the Buhlmann ZH-L16C algorithm (with adjustable conservatism) in real time and supports the most typical dive screens, such as: surface, normal diving, entering decompression mode, decompression stop, decompression ceiling violation, high PO2, oxygen toxicity, fast ascent alarm and post dive mode.

“We are extremely pleased to collaborate with PADI on this project,” says Alberto Mantovani, President and CEO of DiveNav. “PADI recognizes the popularity of dive computers and specialized computer simulators are valuable additions to dive computer training.”

DiveNav’s divePAL is currently available for Windows, iPad, iPhone and Android devices, with a version for Mac expected by the end of the year.
