Dive site overlays in ediveing.us website
Posted by oldiver on August 23, 2010 at 2:13 pm in Help - User's reported problems/bugs/issues
You recently added the divesite overlays to the home page of edivers. They pop-up when you run the mouse over them. In Apple Safari they show properly but in IE8 the far left and far right two do not layer on top of the ediver's image or the ad on the right.

Runnung Windows XP with 8800GT card on PC. I have both IE8 and Safari installed and it overlays fine with Safari but not with IE8. However, in DiveComputerTraining.com home page. the overlays for the computers works fine in IE8 AND Safari.

Opened ediving.us on two other computers with IE8 and XP and dive sites overlay fine. Must be a bad file in my IE8 on my computer.

Thanks for the quick response to looking into the problem. Still, can't seem to get rid of that sandal in my sim dive locker though.

Oldiver figured it out. Changing "compatibility view" in IE8 did the trick.

Thanks again

In general this seems to be a compatibility issue with flash and certain versions of browsers. I've been looking into a permanent solution across all browsers but can't come up with anything concrete. That, combined with the inability to consistently reproduce the problem on my system, has made this a bit tricky, but I appreciate you guys bringing it up and posting your own solutions.

A little more info- In IE8, with compatibility view off, the left most dive site pop-ups work but the right ones still are obscured by the youtube ads for dive sites/computers. When reloading page and positioning cursor over right dive site, the pop-up shows correctly UNTIL the youtube loads on top of pop-up. FYI, I don't know a computer code from an allergy.

found the problem - and solution: it is due to the type of video shown in the small box; works OK with vimeo embed code, but if I use the YouTube embed code then the dive site overlay images get position underneath the video.

Solution: change all the embed codes to vimeo embed code
