Medallions Keys what next?
Posted by mjosephson on January 4, 2010 at 5:29 pm in Help - User's reported problems/bugs/issues
This is becoming a little to much, I dove the Farnsworth this morning and now this afternoon I have to have a medallion. This sucks!

Just use the WEBSITE to look for who owns the Farnsworth Medallion and WHERE they are hiding it.

Then just steal it away ;-)

PS
Soon we will have an underwater sonar to help you track down those trinkets !

I do like challenges! I was just talking to cdiver the other day about a sonar. You are mind reader. and I'm not kidding about telling cdiver that"

He's not kidding.

My keys/medallions and other trinkets have been disapearing. If i pick something up and its in my garage, it should stay there, but all of mine are gone.

read the forum .... trinkets will stay in your garage only for a a day or so .... if you do not hide them somewhere in a dive site they will disappear.

I completely agree, I have only used the simulator for a short period of time, but this is ridiculous. One of the two medallions I have found has just been swiped after I "hid it," not very easy to do considering the dive sites offered. I would much rather pay to be able to dive the premium sites, or to keep hiding keys and medallions after finding them, but the fact that other divers can pick them up and move them is just stupid. It makes the whole concept of the simulator to search for stuff that will make the simulator work properly.

Hi,
since I am the brain behind this trinkets idea .... I really don't like - too much - to be told that I am doing stupid things.

Maybe you could use different words to explain why you don't like this? Then maybe I will listen.

Thanks

I am sorry if I expressed myself bluntly, it was not my intention to upset you or anyone in this otherwise great community. I just do not understand the purpose of the medallions or keys? The trinkets in general is a great idea, it is always fun to find stuff when you are out diving, and collecting them helps to keep our oceans clean. About the keys and medallions though: I think it is a great way to get access to more rewarding dive spots, but the fact that it is virtually no foolproof way to keep them for a longer period of time annoys me. For example, I hid a medallion just yesterday so I wouldn't lose it from my garage, and when I went to retrieve it today it was already gone, before I even had a chance to dive that particular site. There might be something I am missing, but that particular incident made me write my initial, and perhaps somewhat heated post. I think this entire thread already expresses the views of many of the people using the software.

Edit: I did not know about the Premium service, and I will take that into consideration.

Hi,
there is a "tiny" bug - one of the many - simulator and some virtual divers are exploiting it at their advantage (cheating?).
Basically if you swim at the surface with your head leveled at the water, you might see the whole terrain below you .... along with marine life and objects .....
So, some virtual divers use this trick to quickly discover where other players hide their trinkets ....
r11 will fix this problem once for all. No more cheating and way more difficult to find somebody else trinkets :-)
